Micah Lasher Endorsed by Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union

Lasher Leads Assembly District 69 Field With Labor Support

NEW YORK, NY – Micah Lasher, candidate for New York State Assembly in the 69th District, today announced that he has received endorsement of the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU). Founded in 1937, RWDSU represents 60,000 workers in a wide range of industries, including but not limited to retail, grocery stores, poultry processing, and bakeries.

“Micah Lasher is the kind of leader we need in the Assembly,” said Stuart Appelbaum, President of RWDSU. “He cares deeply about justice and fairness for workers, and he has deep experience turning progressive ideas into progressive results. We are proud to endorse Micah and look forward to working with him for many years to come.”

“I am honored to have the support of 60,000 of New York’s most essential workers,” said Micah Lasher. “I will work tirelessly in Albany to ensure that our State government is on their side, ensuring that the members of RWDSU are given the respect, dignity, and safety they deserve.”

The RWDSU joins a growing coalition of labor in support of Lasher, including Teamsters Local 817, CWA Local 1180, the Civil Service Employees Association, the United Federation of Teachers, The Hotel Trades and Gaming Council, and the New York State United Teachers. Lasher had the early support of progressive leaders and organizations known and trusted by the voters of the 69th Assembly District, including Congressmember Jerry Nadler, Congressmember Adriano Espaillat, City Comptroller Brad Lander, Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine, State Senator Robert Jackson, State Senator Brad Hoylman-Sigal, Assemblymember Linda Rosenthal, City Councilmember Shaun Abreu, City Councilmember Gale Brewer, former City Comptroller Scott Stringer, and former Manhattan Borough President Ruth Messinger. He has also been endorsed by all three Democratic clubs in the district — Broadway Democrats, Three Parks Independent Democrats, and West Side Democrats — as well as the League of Conservation Voters, Planned Parenthood Empire States Votes, Voters for Animal Rights, and the Stonewall Democrats.
