NEW YORK, NY – Micah Lasher, candidate for New York State Assembly in the 69th District, today announced that he has received endorsement of the Planned Parenthood Empire State Votes PAC, the electoral arm of Planned Parenthood that works towards electing candidates that stand with Planned Parenthood and who fight for New Yorker’s reproductive freedom.
“At a time when our health, rights, and freedoms are being relentlessly attacked around the country, we need state leaders who will advance bold policies and actions to further protect and expand access to comprehensive reproductive and sexual health care,” said Robin Chappelle Golston, chair of PPESV. “Micah Lasher has a proven track record fighting for abortion rights and reproductive health care, and we know he will be a leader at this critical moment in the legislature.”
“State legislatures are now the key battlegrounds for abortion rights in America. Here in New York, we’ve passed important legislation to protect providers and patients from red state governors and a reactionary Supreme Court,” said Micah Lasher. “But there’s still more to do — there will always be more we can do. I’m incredibly proud to have earned Planned Parenthood Empire State Votes’ endorsement in this race, and will be prouder still to work together to protect and expand access to reproductive health care, and improve maternal and infant health.”
Planned Parenthood ESV is the latest in a series of progressive endorsements for Lasher. His coalition includes labor organizations including the Hotel and Gaming Trades Teamsters Local 817, the Civil Service Employees Association, the United Federation of Teachers, and New York State United Teachers, as well as progressive leaders and organizations known and trusted by the voters of the 69th Assembly District, including Congressmember Jerry Nadler, Congressmember Adriano Espaillat, City Comptroller Brad Lander, Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine, State Senator Robert Jackson, State Senator Brad Hoylman-Sigal, Assemblymember Linda Rosenthal, City Councilmember Shaun Abreu, City Councilmember Gale Brewer, former City Comptroller Scott Stringer, and former Manhattan Borough President Ruth Messinger. Lasher has also been endorsed by all three Democratic clubs in the district — Broadway Democrats, Three Parks Independent Democrats, and West Side Democrats — as well as the League of Conservation Voters and the Stonewall Democrats.
