Micah Lasher Endorsed by Hotel and Gaming Trades Council

Lasher Building Strong Labor Coalition in 69th Assembly District Race

NEW YORK, NY – Micah Lasher, candidate for New York State Assembly in the 69th District, today announced that he has received endorsement of the Hotel and Gaming Trades Council, AFL-CIO. The union represents 40,000 non-managerial hospitality and gaming employees working in all departments, with membership accounting for approximately 75% of the hotel industry within the five boroughs of New York City.

“We are proud to support Micah Lasher for State Assembly on the West Side,” said Bhav Tibrewal, Political Director of the Hotel and Gaming Trades Council. “Micah is the kind of leader we need in Albany. He will fight tirelessly for our members and for working families across the state, and he has the experience and the knowledge to get things done.”

“I am incredibly honored to have the support of the 40,000-strong Hotel and Gaming Trades Council in my campaign for State Assembly,” said Micah Lasher. “These hard-working men and women make New York’s tourism industry run, and I look forward to fighting for them in Albany and to partnering with HTC to ensure the industry fully recovers and thrives long into the future.”

The Hotel and Gaming Trades Council endorsement is part of a growing coalition of organized labor supporting Lasher: Teamsters Local 817, the Civil Service Employees Association, the United Federation of Teachers, and New York State United Teachers. They join a coalition of progressive leaders and organizations known and trusted by the voters of the 69th Assembly District, including Congressmember Jerry Nadler, Congressmember Adriano Espaillat, City Comptroller Brad Lander, Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine, State Senator Robert Jackson, State Senator Brad Hoylman-Sigal, Assemblymember Linda Rosenthal, City Councilmember Shaun Abreu, City Councilmember Gale Brewer, former City Comptroller Scott Stringer, and former Manhattan Borough President Ruth Messinger. Lasher has also been endorsed by all three Democratic clubs in the district — Broadway Democrats, Three Parks Independent Democrats, and West Side Democrats — as well as the League of Conservation Voters and the Stonewall Democrats.
